The One with the Accelerated Heartbeat

Well, I made it. I didnt pass out or require medical attention. Almost, but not. Since LJ has decided to smite me and is still not doing cuts (I surely hope I am not the only one with this problem), you guys can just come in and discuss. We will spoil all through the comments.

I'm In....: the lair
I Feel....: draineddrained

God, I missed the entire thing because of being on the phone with the credit card company - i cannot find my mastercard. This is not a huge deal - since people are practically throwing money in my direction to make up for five years where they ignored me, i can use debit and not freak that a cheque is going to bounce... but a credit card is nice to have when you have a gas emergency and who knew that it would take over an hour. Please, please, please let CTV put it on their internet site so I can watch the entire thing on Friday.

That totally sucks. But I am glad you called it in and had the card canceled. Surely it will be up for viewing on download sites within 24 hours. It was epic.

Now I have to stay away from LJ until I can finally watch it online because I HATE SPOILERS.

Hopefully people will respect and post under cuts. I just had that discussion last week.

LOVED THE EP! totally cried and hated watching it, but it was actually really good t.v.

The team dynamic was masterfully displayed and showed how truly close they really are, ready to step up to the plate and be there for Hotch. (Random aside...how funny was it that Strauss asked Prentiss specifically why she didn't go with Hotch.... apparently everyone knows of our dynamic duo :) )

The next few eps should be great, and I hope they show how they all deal with it, and not just Hotch

I definitely loved the team dynamic and how they all look at each other as equals and just have each other's backs no matter what.

I loved the how Prentiss/Strauss and wish there would've been more as we all know how they feel about each other. Prentiss' contempt showed and I for one loved it. I do love how Strauss did seem to make it Prentiss' responsiiblity to look after Hotch.

I am so interested to see the next few episodes as well. This was a blow to the whole "family" and I want the writing to express how they are there for each other and for Hotch. And it would be more than awesome if we see Hotch and Prentiss get closer because of this. He is definitely going to need a best friend now and Prentiss would be the most amazing best friend ever.

This episode exceeded my expectations as I have been less than impressed with the whole Foyet storyline. Of course, it wasnt him I was most impressed with in the end, it was my team.

I really loved the team dynamic, they really do treat each other as they are family.

Considering how much time they spend together, they really are family. And now they are linked in this tragedy as well. I mean, they are linked in a lot of tragedies but this was personal.

I'm just glad the Foyet storyline is over, that Hotch killed him good, and that we saw another side of Strauss. I love to hate her and she was hella good last night.

Yeah, forming words right after it was over was surely not easy.

Everyone is sayign they cried but I dont cry much so I didnt but it was emotional, moving, and amazing. Everyone showed their amazing acting skills, particularly Thomas Gibson, though they were all fantastic.

Kevin's bacon donut....I'm going to try that soon.

I'm sorta... speechless, I guess.

I felt like sitting on needles through the whole ep, but... guh. Dunno.

Ok, to start from the end (as did the ep), whilst I was less than fond of Haley this was not what I wanted to see. So. Not. But well. I'm always thinking how can they keep dealing Hotch the shittiest cards of life ever all the time - I mean come on, the guy got blown up by a car bomb, thumped all the time from his superiors, stabbed and I don't want to know how much mutilated by the nuttiest of psychos out there and now this? And he shall be back all ok within basically no time? I know he's a superhero (*g*) but this is just too unreal. It's just too much for a human being to bear.

Ok, so then I really hated how easily Haley believed Foyet on the phone. Sure, he made it sound believable but hell she should have used her brain a bit more, given that she knew in how much danger she actually was.

I sort of liked it when Hotch beat Foyet to pulp. Ok "liking" may be the wrong term here but it was sort of all that lurking darkness unleashed, in my really weird mind this came over just sooo manly and impressive and, well, attractive as hell. Of course not in the circumstances, but, ... yeah.

I had a near cardiac arrest when Hotch saw the shoes and kept shooting the curtain - my first thought was that Foyet had found Jack and stuffed him there, together with the shoes, to make Hotch believe it was him and make him shoot his own son. Would have been adequate for Foyet's style. Thank God I was wrong.

Overall, I think the ep was rather brilliant, with suspense, emotion, everything. Also the way it was told - not uncommon for such kind of milestones in a series storyline - and how Strauss played her evil role again. Right now, I'm particularly happy that The Evil No 1 is out of the way (I even put it past him to resurrect from the dead).

Ok, now I'm really curious where they take the show - will it, at least for some time, focus more on cases again and less on the persons, or will they keep this up? I don't even know what I'd like better.

What strikes me with the entire season 5 - whilst in the beginning the show was brutal and scary enough I currently feel they are taking it in a direction that is too much. I mean, to me this is unwatchable for anyone under about 15 or so - given that I think it's quite ok to let even children watch crime if you do it together with them that's saying something. It's really becoming extremely scary.

I definitely loved the way the episode was filmed and I loved seeing Strauss again, I love her character because every good show has an antagonist, and we expect Unsubs but to have someone they work with constantly digging into them....I love it.

I didnt see the point of killing Haley at all. IDK where they can take it in the future except as a way to eventually have TG exit, whether its this season or next or something. Not having Haley there as stability for Jack, it leaves Hotch in a vulnerable position and I dont like that at all. Also, people are complaining that Haley didnt fight enough for her life but how do you fight that. She knew Jack was going to be OK, I can only assume that she knew what "working" the case was, or knew at the very least that Jack and Hotch had a "code" for danger, lots of kids do. I just really love Jack and how he asked Hotch if "George was a bad man". It was really heartbreaking.

I dont necessarily see the show as scary, but I feel they are going in a direction where it is becoming as dark for the characters as it is for the viewers and I dont know how I feel about that. As you said, how much more is Hotch supposed to take before it just becomes unreal. In fact, I think it surpassed unreal a little while ago. There are other characters and I would love to see more of their vulnerability and feelings, JJ for instance.

Not Reid, as I've seen enough of him to last me a lifetime. But Morgan surely, and Prentiss, and even Rossi. And of course Garcia because she is always "looking out for her babies" and she cant get to them often as they are all over the place and she is Quantico. I think if characters are going to start being battered, it can at least be fair and we get to see them all take their fair share. The acting on the show has always been good and I want to see more people show their acting chops.

I really would love to see the show get back in the direction of focusing on the job, more procedural and less character drama because I feel the writers always go for too much drama. Oh, and of course I really want to see more Hotch and Prentiss. If I dont it will not change how I feel about the show but there is just this tiny door opening where we can see something develop between them, and I really am just talking about a friendship, so I am very interested to see where this goes. Its been very obvious during this season that she is trying to be there for him. I want to see how far he opens that door. Of all the characters and all their interactions, these two are the only two characters who havent quite gotten to a solid friendship standing IMO.
